Wait…did you say Spezza?

SOOO, Puck-Rakers threw something interesting out there today and I couldn’t just ignore it and move on with my life. I had to blog about it. Keep in mind this is NOT a rumor, it is just something that Portzline threw out there.
Just a thought: The No. 6 overall pick, Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche to Ottawa for Jason Spezza and the rights to unrestricted free agent defenseman Wade Redden, who’s not coming back to the Sens. Disclaimer: this is not anything I’ve heard, not even a rumor, just summer-time fodder. Also, before the flood of emails come in, please understand that I’m not pimping for Zherdev or Fritsche to be traded. I just think it’s likely they’ll be moved this summer. Not my choice, necessarily, just a forecast. Zherdev played maybe the best game he played all season in Ottawa. His agent is based there. The Sens need wing help. Redden’s not coming back anyway. Ahh, what the heck, it’s summer.
Okay, first of all Spezza on a line with Rick Nash, and Modin or Voracek…would be amazing. HOWEVER, Hitch had issues with Spezza in the worlds. Spezza is pretty notorious for turnovers, that bothers me. Redden I have no problems with him. I think he will be a great addition to whatever team he joins.
Now, onto the issues I have with what we’re offering, Zherdev…no. I don’t want to lose Zherdev, I feel like we have finally have the Zherdev we thought we were getting when we drafted him. Fritsche, as much as I like him, and enjoy him on my team, I am fine with losing him. I know he is happy here in Columbus, his little brother lives there, and well he’s an Ohio native. But, he is great for trade bait!!
Now, let’s be realistic, the Sens are NOT giving up Spezza, it just won’t happen. But, a girl can dream eh?

Voracek is awful for turnovers and is poor on defense, unless that was just the way we coached him, because I think our coach sucks….but anyway. If he plays like he did this year and fails to work on his defensive game can you really see Hitch still wanting to take him for next year? Since he is too young to play for the Crunch I think he will be back in Europe, unless we trade him within the Q. The feeling around town is that Jakub is just gone, anywhere but here. I can’t say I blame him.
Is everyone on the Spezza wagon? The girls at IPB also want Spezza and I say Spezza is just not a NJD kinda guy, but they also want Vinny, and Vinny is definitely not a NJD kinda guy.

I think Hitch would kick Jake in the ass and make him be good in his own end. He did the same thing with Ricky, I mean can you see it, Ricky and Voracek on the PK lol.
I am on the I want an elite center wagon, so I suppose that adds me to the Spezza wagon. Besides Spezza is pretty.
