    Pre-Game Calgary

    By Bethany | March 4, 2008

Well, Dave already has his pre-game up…and says we have a stupid name.  Make sure you go and say mean nice things to him.  Anyway, Freddy Mo is out tonight but is hoping to play on Friday, we’ll see Freddy, we’ll see.  Kris Russell is the odd man out Puck-Rakers said that Hitch liked Rome, and hey great minds think alike!!  Anyway, I liked this bit of Puck-Rakers blog for tonights game:

As you can imagine the Canadian press has been following the Adam Foote fallout. One thing that came up today was the emergence of a “second leadership tier” as coach Ken Hitchcock called it. Ron Hainsey, Manny Malhotra and Rusty Klesla are becoming more vocal in the locker room, Hitchcock said.

The Klesla part is most intriguing. Hitch said Klesla has wanted to do it but had lacked confidence to speak up. It’s interesting how the dynamic of a room changes when a captain such as Foote vacates it.

Good for Klesla, you expect guys like Hainsey and Manny to step up but Klesla?  It warms my heart to see him stepping up that way.  I think the Jackets “leadership group is doing just fine…if not better.

Alright, here are the keys to tonights game courtesy of…Jarome Iginla because he is getting ready to break Theo Fleury’s record as the highest goal scorer for the Flames…so here we go:

Jiri Novotny is a daddy he is going to score a goal for Jiri Jr.

All lines need to get going.

Really smart hockey, don’t take dumb penalties.

Ovechkin had a hat trick last night, maybe Nasher could match it.

Manny Malhotra has been stepping up in the locker room let’s hope his leadership continues.

Early morning for me, I can’t think of anything.

Iggy needs to be stopped, ok he can get a goal to surpass Fleury, but other than that keep him quiet!!!

    Get going early!!!!!!!

In their end, play in their end, throw everything at the net.

Need these 2 points, they’re HUGE!!

Love the goalie, I’m not sure who’s in net tonight, but regardless play well, let him see all the shots, let him make the first stop and then get rid of the rebound.

A win is what a want a win!!!!!!!!!

Okay, that was rough, but forgive me I had to be up early, and now have mid-terms to study for and a paper to write…wish me luck.  GO JACKETS!!!

We should be leaving to head down to the game in about an hour :) I’d say to look for me on TV in my Brassard jersey, but we’re sitting way up high above TV camera range.

I’m just impressed that the Jackets can fly in here and play an NHL game without having much time to get used to the altitude. It really makes breathing difficult with even minor exertion…

Can’t wait to watch this one…

With the Flames being my Number 2 (sorry twin), I like to see them do good things.

HOWEVER!! Klesla… stepping up? Growing a pair?

Gee thanks twin. I know Klesla is a beautiful man, and now a leader, maybe HE will be my new favorite Jacket…there’s so many to choose from…

I’ll do a full post on my blog in the morning, but (apart from the score) it was one of the more fun places I’ve seen an NHL game. Very fan-friendly environment.

Neither team played especially great. Kipper was really the difference in the game.
