Oh, that sucks…
By Bethany | March 5, 2008
Well, we outplayed the Oilers and we outplayed the Flames, but they’re the ones who came out on top. The Blue Jackets threw 39 pucks at Kipper but couldn’t get one past him. We even had a 1:19 two man advantage, and were unable to capitalize on it. Rick Nash had this to say:
“I thought that was our game,” said Rick Nash, who also was denied on a short-handed breakaway in the second period. “But we couldn’t score on the power play. The 5-on-3 was unacceptable. We fumbled the puck twice, we couldn’t keep it in. Our best players were out there. There is just no excuse.”
He makes no excuse for the Blue Jackets which is good because there isn’t one. There is a glaring need for a play making centre who can feed Nash the puck. The line of Boll, Nash, and I believe Novotny was outstanding until Boll got slashed by Daymond Langkow, and his leg went numb. He was helped off the ice but returned in the third which was great to see. Also, Dan Fritsche took a puck to the neck and returned in the second. Tough night for the boys.
Pascal Leclaire made some outstanding saves last night, but unfortunately blamed himself, saying,
“I just missed it,” said Leclaire, who made a handful of big stops. “I thought he was going around the net and he surprised me with the shot.”
There is no reason why we can’t score two goals and get Pazzy the win. You can only expect your goaltender to give you a chance to win every night, Pazzy did that last night and was not rewarded for his efforts. Rome, had a turnover and it resulted in the goal…aside from that he looked good…he may have found a home in Columbus.
Here are the power rankings for this week from Yahoo!
22. Columbus Blue Jackets (30-27-10, Previous: 24) – No question here what a huge difference Ken Hitchcock has made with a franchise that’s still looking to reach the playoffs for the first time. They’re likely going to miss again, but like Murray in St. Louis, Hitchcock has instilled previously missing ingredients for success, mainly defensive awareness and accountability for Columbus’ young stars.
Yay Hitch!!

I love the way the boys are playing lately and I have faith that their hard work will pay off- it just may not be this year.
Boll rocks, I hated seeing him down on the ice.
Can’t wait until Friday-

Funny how some teams just get away with everything.
I wonder if there are grounds for suspension on the slash to Boll. I’d be surprised, but my brother is convinced that we’re gonna see Langkow suspended for it.

Elisa, I am too. I am really liking Klesla wearing that A on his jersey. Poor Boll, oh well the highlight of my night was seeing the Phaneuf parade to the penalty box.
Brad, I couldn’t believe he got away with that. At first I thought it was Iggy, but when you hit a guy hard enough that his LEG goes numb, there definitely should be some form of retaliation from the league. But, I seriously doubt there will be.
