    Meet my Coach!!

    By Bethany | July 8, 2007

Ken Hitchcock, or more commonly referred to as Hitch became the coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets on November 22, 2006. Immediately you could see a difference in my boys. But, let me tell you a little more about Hitch. He was born on December 17, 1951 in Edmonton, Alberta. In 1984 he began his coaching career with the Kamloops Blazers he stayed there for six seasons and went 291-115-15 and lead them to two WHL Championships. In 1990 he was named Top Coach in all of the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League.

After being very successful in WHL Hitch became an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers in 1990. After staying with the Flyers for three seasons he left to go to the Kalamazoo Wings mid third season he left to become the head coach for the Dallas Stars on January 8, 1996. In 1998-1999 Hitchcock lead the Dallas Stars to their first Stanley Cup. In 2001 Hitchcock was fired as the Stars head coach and quickly went back to the Philadelphia Flyers. In 2006 Hitchcock was fired as the Flyers coach and then came to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Hitch is a man who thrives on discipline. All Blue Jackets fans are absolutely thrilled to have this man on our team. Here is his NHL Coaching Record from the Blue Jackets website.

      Jeannie:
When teams start doing poorly under you; regardless of the problem, GM’s do that to change things up…that’s why Galant was fired last year for us.
      Kristin:
      I love him…
