Bring on the Blues…
By Bethany | January 11, 2008
I’ve waited for this game since our disgusting loss on Tuesday. I’m staying home, sitting on the couch, and watching the game. I would attend but, you know, I am now a starving student, and I guess that means I don’t get to have any fun anymore. Alright, I have a lot of things to talk about, but I will start off with the good news and Blue Jackets fans, there’s a lot of it!!
*The best news for me, was that Nikolai Zherdev, is playing tonight. He is ready, and is ready to get some pay back on Backes. Let’s hope that the rest of the team is ready to get a little redemption from that joke of a game. If you remember I posted yesterday that Zherdev probably wouldn’t be playing this weekend, but this is the new Zherdev, he’s motivated and can handle it.
*More good news, Norrena’s headaches are gone, that means Mason is heading back to Kitchener where he belongs, at least he got some money out of it right? Norrena will be backing up Leclaire tonight.
*MORE good news, Brassard will be wearing the number 16 tonight, why is that good news? Because it’s 61 backwards, and well Brassard is our newest stud. According to Aaron Portzline yesterday in his blog, this is a permanent move. Brassard will be with the club during the remaining stretch, even though he was just named an all star. Brassard will be on the 4th line with Jared Boll and Jody Shelley. Should be an interesting night in Nationwide.
*Sad news, Kris Beech was claimed by the Vancouver Canucks, and will be playing the Blue Jackets on Tuesday when the Nucks come to town. Beech had played well for his but his inconsistency is what made Scott Howson place him on waivers. Beech had this to say about the decision to waive him:
“I’ve been playing the best hockey I’ve played in this league this season — and I honestly can say that,” said Beech, signed by the Jackets as a free agent. “I was disappointed when I heard the news yesterday (about being waived).
“They have their reasons and I’m not here to pass judgment on what they’re doing. I tried to do what they asked of me, and I enjoyed my time here.”
I am sad to see Beech go, but we had to make room on our roster for Brassard. I am happy that Beech got picked up though, good for him, I hope he finds a permanent home in Vancouver.
*Leclaire is not bitter about his snub from the All Star game, but I am still bitter, and really upset. The Dispatch wrote an article about it in today’s paper. I think Pazzy is happy to just get a break…which will be good for him I think.
*Also, in Portzline’s blog today he has the line combinations and defensive pairings for tonight, they are as follows:
F1: Nash, Fedorov, Lindstrom
F2: Vyborny, Novotny, Zherdev
F3: Chimera, Peca, Fritsche/Malhotra
F4: Shelley, Brassard, Boll
D1: Jan Hejda, Adam Foote
D2: Kris Rusell, Rostislav Klesla
D3: Ron Hainsey, Marc Methot
*The Blues are playing their backup goalie tonight against the Blue Jackets.
*I will in all likelihood be putting up another pre-game post, so stay tuned for that.
