Blue Jackets Sign Mike York!!

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed veteran center Mike York to a one year two-way contract. It will pay him $750,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the AHL. York has played in 578 career games, with 127 goals and 195 assists (322 points). Contrary to what my twin thinks, I think this is a great signing for the Blue Jackets. It gives us some veteran depth at center (for the injuries that are bound to come up), and we don’t have to worry about losing him on waivers when we bring him up. Here is what Howson had to say on the signing:
“Mike is a proven NHL player who has had two seasons that have been not at the level he was previously,” Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson said. “He’s trying to get his career back on track.
“We expect him to seriously compete for a job here. If he can get back to a level he was on the Island (2005-06), he’ll be a very good addition for us.”
Well, I guess we will see what he can do at training camp.

NHL loses eight-year vet York: Free agent forward Mike York signed a contract with Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (Russia). York was an eight-year NHL veteran.
