Penguins 3 Red Wings 2 Game 3
By Bethany | May 29, 2008
The Pittsburgh Penguins showed up to play. Well, make that Sidney Crosby showed up to play. The Penguins kept their homeless winning streak alive. However, I am not hopping on the Pens wagon just yet. The first fifteen minutes of the game were great. The Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins played great hockey. Sidney Crosby finally scored the first goal of the series for the Penguins, and it seemed like all was downhill from there. The Red Wings looked like they couldn’t get anything going.
Chris Osgood made some spectacular saves, but Crosby notched his second goal of the night. The Red Wings came out with a fire lit under them and Johan Franzen scored the first goal for the Wings. Something I do want to point out is Pittsburgh defenseman, Hal Gill, he was called twice in the second period for cross checking, he should have been called a lot more.
The third period was probably the greatest period of the game, the Penguins, Adam Hall scored making the Penguins up 3-1. The Red Wings got it going again when Mikael Samuelsson scored to make it 3-2. The Wings weren’t able to score again despite throwing sixteen shots at Fleury.
Here is my theory, the Red Wings were not playing the same hockey they had been playing. Think back to last year, when the Sens beat the Ducks. The Wings don’t want to win the Cup at home, they are going to win on Saturday and take it back to Detroit and finish off the series. The Wings knew what they were doing.
